Christmas Eve Bowl Play
All right folks nice win last night cashing SD State and the under. As I stated, State was just getting sold short there. Clearly we haven't had a great year by any means but we appear to be getting the winning vibe back. Hopefully we can finish strong and make back some of the coin we have dumped off to the book earlier in the season. Tonight's game I like the over. Hawaii has scored on just about everybody this season and I don't think Tulsa is going to slow them down too successfully. However, Conference USA has had a decent showing so far in the bowls and I think they may have what it takes to stick around in this game. Too tough to pick a side in my opinion, but I'll roll with the over. Another reason I like over here is that Hawaii's offense is almost entirely predicated on the pass, and I think Moniz and the talented receiving core put up 40-45 points tonight. If Tulsa wants to stick around in this game I think they're going to have to score their share of points, and I expect them to do just that.

All right folks well the public seems to be in love with Navy and I just think San Diego State is getting sold way short here. Let's not forget this is the team that had TCU on the ropes and lost the game by just 5. With the line all the way down to 3, I'm rolling with the Aztecs. First things first this is basically a home game for SD State. Next, Navy is a one-trick pony (granted its a pretty good trick) but I think SD State has the D to slow down the triple option. They played Air Force earlier this year, and won that game, and in my opinion AF is better than Navy this year. They play AF every year and are familiar with the triple option threat, plus they have extra time to prepare. The Aztecs have a solid defense, a good coach, and also a more high-powered and balanced offense than Navy. Finally, the field is a mess and I expect the game to be slowed down a bit, plus with all that running by Navy I think we can expect to see the clock ticking quite a bit. Aztecs and under for me.

Not a bad day last Sunday going 3-1-1. Here's the card for today.
Buffalo +5 Division rivarly, Miami off a nice win over the Jets, but Buffalo has a good offense and I think they hang around.

Tenn -1 Lost 20-0 in Houston, now Collins is back, bitter rivalry, Tenn responds.
Jets +4 No Troy today, everybody is off the Jets bandwagon, not me.

Disappointing going 1-2 yesterday. Kind of ironic that I called June Jones a good coach and I believe it was his decision not to kick the field goal at the end of the game that cost us the cover. All right folks big up to Miami great MAC title win for the boys from Ohio. Nice to notch one in the W column for us too. Today the card is very short.
SMU +9 Tough squad with a great coach. UCF rolled everybody this year but I look for a spirited effort from the Mustangs today.
South Carolina +4.5 They had them on the ropes 20-6 last time out and blew it with four second half turnovers. Between Garcia Lattimore and Alshon Jeffrey I think SC has a more balanced offense than the one-trick pony that is Cam Newton (albeit a very talented on trick). Not to mention Auburn had to lay it all on the line against Bama last week to come back and save their season and its very hard to follow up a game like that with another great performance. If SC builds a first half lead I will hedge with Auburn second half because they have been a second half team all year.
Nebraska +4 Look I know Taylor Martinez is a little banged up but he has been all season and I have to imagine he has so much adrenaline today he won't feel the pain. Not to mention Helu is an excellent running back and Nebraska has a great defense, a recipe for keeping a close game. Last year everyone thought Texas was head and shoulders above Nebraska and the game came down to a last second FG. Not to mention Okie played a real tough hard fought game against Okie State last week and again hard to follow that up.
Best of luck everyone.

Well the record is a clear reflection of the type of year it's been and last night we had another tough loss with the Texans winning on the field in the third quarter and blowing the cover in the fourth.
Onto tonight I love Miami Ohio catching 17. I will be the first to say Northern Illinois is the class of the MAC this year no doubt. But Miami Ohio just handled a very good Temple team last week and they have lost some very tight contests to NIU in the past, triple revenge angle here. Let's not forget Miami was missing some key O Linemen and since getting them back, their running back has 325 yards. MAC Championship game wayyyy too many points for me.

1-3 Last time out and just can't seem to get off the snide. College football is winding down and we will try to make the most of today's card. Here's what I got for today.
Cincy +2.5: two pretty even teams, don't think UConn can score with them, Cincy needs this win to become bowl eligible. Important game for UConn too, but I think Cincy stacks the box to stop Toddman and I'll take my chances with letting Frazer beat us with his arm. UConn got blown out by Louisville who has a balanced offense and I think Collaros and Pead provide enough balance to win this one.
Penn State first half +.5: This is by no means a fade of Michigan State but they are coming off several tough games, and Penn State's level of play with McGloin at QB has elevated and now things have opened up for Royster and as a result PSU has been played much better. Only thing that scares me is that Mich State is a gritty team that loves to come from behind and I think its more likely that PSU wins the first half then the whole game.
Florida +2: Just think we're getting the better team here as a small dog and I won't hesitate to pull the trigger on it. Granted Florida consistently beats FSU and maybe this is State's year to win, but I don't think so. Florida has only gotten beat by very good teams and when they played the cream of the crop a la Oklahoma they got demolished. Don't think Florida is Oklahoma but I think they have a great chance of winning and covering this game. Florida got a great win against Georgia who has definitely validated themselves as a worthy opponent. Florida has the tenth ranked D in the country and I think they slow down Ponder. Gotta grab the Gators at this cheap price in my opinion.
Kansas State -14: K State has the opportunity to go a Bowl Game for the first time since 2006 and the Mean Green frankly stink. If a legitimate Big 12 team like K State can't take care of business against a bottom of the barrel Sun Belt team then I don't know what's going on with college football. The line seems a little short but I will roll with the team that I think is far superior and should be well-motivaed in this one.
Oklahoma +2.5: Ok State is a very solid football team, but Oklahoma is playing for a shot to play in the Big 12 Championship game and I have to roll with them catching a couple points in this game. Think their passing attack is too much for Okie State here with Broyles and Landry Jones and DeMarco Murray really provides some nice balance for this offense. Sooners for me.

All right another dud last night. Needless to say its been a discouraging season but I am not going anywhere. Tonight I like Fresno, as I think this line is inflated. Vegas can pretty much pick any random number in the 30 to 40 range and they're still going to get a lot of Boise action. I'm not here to tell you I don't think Boise is a solid football team, but I think Fresno is a pretty legitimate contender, and they also run the ball well and I feel pretty good about them getting over four touchdowns in this game.

Sorry folks little error on the record should have read 52-62 last time out. Again hasn't been a great season. Changing up the strategy a little bit for the rest of the year and we'll see how it goes. No excuses but I have had a ton of things on my plate and in all honesty have not been able to devote as much time as I'd like.
Tonight's game reminds me a lot of last week's Thursday game. The team that everyone thinks is better is a one point dog, but I'll take the home team on a short week of rest. Also for those who doubt Tyler Thigpen, many think he is the best third-stringer in the game, and I know that might sound a little funny, but this is the NFL, these guys are professional athletes. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the pompous asshole that is Jay Cutler demoralized, and I think that's what we see tonight.

Disappointing Sunday going 1-3 with the Tampa Bay keeping it close with a hell of a special teams performance by Jacoby Ford and KC just dumping the game in Oakland's lap late in the game. This guy Todd Haley obviously has the Chiefs playing decently but as they say on ESPN, come on, man! Tonight I'm on the Bowling Green Falcons. They seem to be getting on the right track have played a very close game with Temple recently and I think they are better than their record indicates, while Miami Ohio has a putrid offense so I will grab the points here.

All right folks nice win on Arky State last time out. Tonight I smell a rat here as Central Florida has been a covering machine all year and they have become a public sweetheart after playing a couple games where they had the opportunity to showcase their talents on national TV. Houston is no slouch either, though, and although they lost their first two quarterbacks, they clearly recruit well at QB because their 3rd stringer had five TD's last game and I think UCF's defense might be running all over the field tonight. You can bet Houston will be pushing the pace all night.

All right folks, not our best Sunday going 2-3, with the Chargers absolutely handing the game away on a sterling silver platter. I stand by the pick, as the Chargers completely outgained and outplayed the Pats with the exception of plain old dumb mental mistakes, including leaving the ball on the ground for the other team to scoop up when the play is not over, on multiple occasions. All right folks tough day yesterday going 2-4. Couple tough losses, a couple just plain bad bets. Today we will be on:
Broncos +6.5 Like Orton and the boys to continue their success through the air today and slow down the Titans run game.
Pitt -2.5 What an impressive job by the Steelers so far, Balty not so much.
San Fran +6.5 Atlanta off a huge win against the Saints and the Niners really need a win, and have a talented team.
Wash +5.5 Donovan against his old team divisional game expect it to be close.
Giants -3.5 They gotta right the ship this week.

Absolutely pathetic meltdown by the Aggies last night. Won the first quarter, tied the second, won the fourth, and lose the third 21-0??? What? Still came out of there with a push but if A&M wasn't the right side last night then I don't know what was. As posted before I am on Utah State +4.5 tonight and hopefully won't get completely screwed as we did tonight. Best of luck everyone.

Alright for tonight we will be rolling with Chicago. As much as I hate to say it, Jay Cutler is looking much better under the direction of Mike Martz (he's still an asshole, and his arm is still not as good as John Elway's, yes he said that) and he is showing some maturity and ability to win games. Bears D looks pretty solid and the loss of Ryan Grant won't help the Packers. In this big division rivalry I'll take my chances on the home dog that's showing some promise this season.

All right folks this Thursday night game presents a rather interesting and somewhat unpredictable scenario. As you may know, Randy Shannon first played for Wanstedt at Miami, then coached under him before he became a head coach. Needless to say, Wanstedt knows Shannon, and Shannon knows Wanstedt. I think this benefits each team more defensively. Also, Pittsburgh has a freshman QB and teams have just been stacking the box to stop Lewis and I think we can expect to see that again tonight. Shannon ripped Miami after last weeks turnover-ridden loss to Ohio State. I would be surprised to see anything but a Miami win tonight, but I think the safer play is the Under. BOL everyone.

Nice relatively easy win last night on NC State. On to tonight I will be rolling with Nevada against Cal. I don't think people quite realize that Nevada is a very respectable, seasoned team with a high-powered offense led by Colin Kaepernick. Nice chance for the Wolfpack to gain some credibility here, and I think they get it done tonight. Don't quite understand all the love for Southern Miss so I'll be laying off that game, though Kansas did knock off G Tech last week as two touchdown dogs and this may be a letdown spot for them.

Tough loss Monday night with the Jets losing with an incredible defensive performance and lackluster offensive effort. Jets just can not win it all with Sanchez at QB this year he can talk about how 15-1 would be fine all he wants it's just not happening despite the quality of their D...On to tonight rolling with N.C. State who opened up as a 1 point home pup and the line quickly jumped across zero to -2.5. N.C. State not a fantastic football team but I think they do enough at home on ESPN Thursday Night game to win and cover. The public perception of Cincy is way off in this one as their coach Brian Kelly is now at Notre Dame, Tony Pike is gone (though Collaros is solid as I have stated before), and Mardy Gilyard is also gone. I think we see a hard fought, sloppy game tonight with N.C. State emerging the victor. Best of Luck.

All right folks going to tread lightly early in the season especially the NFL season. Like the college card this weekend but for now let's try to win some coin on MNF. I'll be taking the New York Jets tonight. Everybody and their brother is on the Ravens here and the line has been bet all the way down from 3 to a pick, but I think as long as Sanchez does not ruin in with picks, the Jets have a great defense, a solid run game and a coach that knows the Baltimore system.

Saturday NCAAF
All right folks slow start to the season. I like today's card quite a bit so let's hope we can get into the positive. Rolling with:
South Florida +16 Florida is still a very talented team but we saw them have a lot of trouble even getting a clean snap last week I'm sure they will have improved upon yet but I think people are mistakenly expecting Tebow's Florida to take the field, and this is not Tebow's Florida.
Airforce -2 BYU coming off a nice win against Washington in Week One, good spot for them to let down against a tough Airforce team.
Alabama -12 Penn State is a good football team but the problem is they like to play the same style of football as Bama and simply put, you can't beat Bama at their own game. PSU has a nice running back in Royster but a freshman at QB and you really just don't run on Bama. Add to that the fact that Bama has McElroy back and while Ingram is out I am fully confident in Richardson and Lacy can hold his own too. Bama way too deep too physical for PSU to hang for four quarters.
Alabama/PSU Under 44 Don't see much scoring out of PSU with a freshman QB and Bama's excellent run defense. I'm sure they will try to shorten the game and play ball control to keep it close but I can't see them scoring more than 14 honestly.
Vandy +10 Great win for LSU in Week One, another let down spot. Vandy is far from the class of the SEC but they have a decent program and with LSU's sometimes stagnant offense, I like the Commodores to keep a game here.
Tennessee +11 Yes Oregon hung 72 or whatever it was on whatever high school program they played last week but the Vols are a tough SEC team and the game is in Knoxville. Tennessee with some important losses (Berry, Williams) but I think a program like Tennessee can fill the gaps enough to keep a competitive game with Oregon.
Best of luck everyone.

All right folks dropped our baseball game last night, got a bunch of runs up early and then stalled out. Kawakami was sufficiently bad, but Miller showed some promise and the braves bats were silent. On to today, got a nice card for the College games:
Florida -38 Probably 2nd best team in the country vs. MAC opponent
Texas -31 Should be a thrashing, Gilbert is green but can't see Rice scoring much.
Conn/Michigan Under 53 Tempted to take UConn here, but 53 in a UConn game is high.
Kansas State -2 K-State has a nice program, UCLA nice D but not much offense.
LSU -8 Tons of UNC suspensions, not so long ago that LSU was national champ.
Fresno -2 Everybody loves Cincy, but they lost their coach Brian Kelly, their stud QB in Pike (Collaros is a decent replacement, tho) and Mardy Gilyard who will be catching passes on Sundays. Fresno's not bad and Cincy loses to much.

Today I'll be on:
Arizona +7- Gotta go with Warner here, as the Saints did not exactly close out the season strongly, and he three weapons in Fitzy, Doucet, and Breaston. Also, the addition of Beanie Wells has really been big for this team giving them more balance on offense. I think they learn from last week's defensive mistakes and shore up the D today.
Baltimore +6.5- I think the Baltimore running game and defense will be enough to keep this one close.
Baltimore/Indy Under 44- Their meeting during the season was 17-15 and I expect a very similar result in this one.

Nice day yesterday going 2-1, losing the Under on the Jets game by a pretty narrow margin. It was a pretty defensive game, but just a few too many big plays and touchdowns rather than field goals. OK folks, here's what I'm rolling with for the weekend. Playoffs are tough but let's see what we can do.
Jets +3 I know the Bengals get some players back this week and this game is in Cincy but the New York Jets dominated both lines of scrimmage last week and I think they do the same today. Granted this is Sanchez's first playoff game but the Jets game plan will be heavily favoring the run. Also, I think the Jets defense is for real, and the Bengals have really struggled to put up points. I don't think the Jets will have anywhere near as easy a time today, as Cincy will probably be expecting run a lot and loading the box but I think I have to roll with the better team and that is the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS.
Jets/Bengals Under 34.5 Like I said it won't be as easy for the Jets to score this week, and Bengals O/Jets D matchup definitely favors the Jets in my opinion.
Dallas -3.5 Very tough to win two divisional games in one year, and Dallas won the last one, a very meaningful game too, very convincingly. This game is in Dallas again so I don't think we should expect things to change too much. If you stick to the running and defense motto for the playoffs I think you have to roll with the Boys in this one.
Tomorrow's Games:
Baltimore +3.5 Again going with running and defense. Granted Flacco vs. Brady is not a great matchup for us but Ray Rice has really been impressive this season and I'll take Ray Lewis and Ed Reed on my team in the playoffs any time. Patriots might win it but probably not by more than a field goal.
Green Bay -1 This line has come all the way across 0 from +3 to -1. Green Bay has an excellent defense and Aaron Rodgers I believe has proven he is a more than capable QB. Arizona played a very weak schedule and I think Green Bay is coming together as a team much better than the Arizona Cardinals. Kurt Warner is a wily veteran and I hate to bet against him but I think the Packers defense gets it done in this one.

IMPORTANT
Folks, a certain individual who has not a drop of honest blood nor a bone of integrity in his body has attempted to hijack my business. He is currently selling my picks at johnsbets.com....DO NOT BUY THESE PICKS.
I am not the owner of that domain or website. Consequently, all future business will be transacted at johnbets.com (NOTE THERE IS NO "S" IN JOHN) But for now we're still giving everything free right here.
Also, do not use the sportsbook link I previously posted (I have deleted all of them) as that same individual stands to gain from your business.
This individual has also operated that website under my name for a period of time and I am pursuing legal recourse in this regard. This guy is a scam artist trying to charge $2600 for a year, I can assure you you are at the wrong place if that is the price you see.

OK, turning it around a little cashing the ticket on Ohio State and the Under. I actually had a great day in NFL yesterday going 5-1, but did not post as I thought it was wiser to tread lightly being the last week of NFL. And of course, because I did not post the picks, they will not count towards my record. Wish you folks could have profitted with me but late season NFL can be very tough to predict.
Tonight I will be rolling with the TCU/Boise Under 53. There is very little doubt in my mind that TCU is the better team in this one, but I think with TCU's defense as stout as it is the Under is the play. Boise has had a great season but at this point it should be clear that the Mountain West is no joke. If Boise wants to have any chance in this one, they need to bring their best D to the table.
