All right folks it's Super Bowl Sunday and we are ready to roll. We've picked every side right in the playoffs and today we look to win our Super Bowl pick and finish the season off right.
Pitt +3 If you have the line at 2.5 I suggest buying the half point up to 3 as I think this will be a very close game and you might as well have the hook. I think this one is decided by 1, 2 or three today and you might as well pay a little extra for the insurance if you have to. Hats off to Green Bay as I think they've played some really good football to get to where they are. But the first point I will start with is who these teams have played to get here. Green Bay knocked off an Eagles team that was lacking a strong defensive unit, Atlanta who built a strong record in a weak division, and Chicago who has a very solid D but not much in the way of an offense. Contrast that with Pitt who knocked off the Baltimore Ravens, who many people thought would go the distance this year, after going down 21-7 in the first half. Then beating up on the Jets, who knocked off another team a lot of people thought would go the distance, and I'm glad they didn't, the Pats. So as far as who had the tougher road, I'll give the edge to Pitt. Secondly I think the running game is a huge advantage for Pitt in this game. Nobody runs on Pitt and I certainly don't think James Starks is going to be the first. On the other hand, Rashard Mendenhall looked great against the Jets and I think Pitt really makes an effort to pound the rock today, keep the clock ticking and keep A-Rod on the sidelines. The Jets defensive game plan is to stop the run at all costs and then worry about the pass, and they didn't slow down Mendenhall, and I think he gets his today. Big edge to Pitt in the running game. Finally we have the experience factor. Many players on this Pitt team have two rings and have played in the big game, whereas Green Bay has very little Superbowl experience. Rodgers has really played great and I tip my cap to him but Big Ben, love him or hate him, has two rings on his fingers and while its not always pretty in the stat book, he gets the job done. To me this game boils down to two great defenses, with the edge offensively going to Pitt because of their balance. If Rodgers can do it on his own against the best defensive unit in the league, God bless him, but I'll be backing Pitt tonight. The sixth seed is favored over a two seed by three, and now all of a sudden Green Bay is a public sweetheart? Give me the points. Best of luck to all.
